Speed issues on #38 near Evergreen Road

As reported in the Frontenac News, I did propose a motion that, if passed, would see a stretch of Road #38 have the speed reduced to 60 kms. My only correction is that the zone I recommended is shorter than what is reported in the story, and that it would begin around the southern intersection of 38 and Evergreen Road and end at least a couple of hundred feet south of the Hinchinbrooke garage.
I've received a lot of comment from people living along that stretch of road, who have had near misses with oncoming traffic coming out of that corner. I know that we have school aged children (and some who will be school aged soon) and buses will be stopping. Coming out of Evergreen Road on the end closest to the Hydro station is tricky, and even Hydro One trucks have a sign telling them to be wary of 'fast traffic' when entering 38. The corner itself is a challenge for anyone taking it at a high speed, and while a guardrail extends where the rock cut is, there is none at the sharpest part of the turn.
While I know a reduced speed zone will not guarantee that a serious accident won't happen, I hope that it will serve as a caution to drivers, and that we can limit the possibility of something serious happening.
As always, I welcome your comments and thoughts.
