ABOUT BRENT CAMERON

Brent Cameron is a 5th generation resident of the Township. He lives on property first homesteaded in the early 1860's by his family - which included a former Reeve of Hinchinbrooke Township, as well as a former County Warden who represented Frontenac County at the funeral of Sir John A. Macdonald in 1891. More recently, Brent's grandfather, Cecil Peters, was Hinchinbrooke Township's grader operator, serving as Road Superintendant until his retirement in the late 1970's.
Brent began his education at Hinchinbrooke Public School in Parham, and holds a degree in Political Studies from Queen's University, as well as a Certificate in Municipal Administration from St. Lawrence College.
A former member of the Community Editorial Board of the Kingston Whig-Standard, he has authored three books. His 2005 book "The Case for Commonwealth Free Trade: Options for a new globalization" helped define the "CANZUK" (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom) concept that has been endorsed by both the Conservative Party of Canada and the youth wing of the Liberal Party of Canada - as well as major political parties in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
First elected to work on behalf of the ratepayers and residents of Hinchinbrooke District in 2014, Brent served on committees dealing with Economic Development, Recreation, By-Law Review, and Affordability for Septic Replacements. Brent was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Frontenac Community Arena, serving as its Chair in 2016, 2021 and in 2022 during the Arena's major redevelopment. Throughout 2021 and 2022, Brent chaired the committee that produced the Sharbot Lake Downtown Revitalization Plan.
In 2017, Brent served as Deputy Mayor for Central Frontenac Township.

He is also a regular contributor to the Daily Globe UK online publication, and has written for other publications, such as The Hub.
Together with his wife Jodi, son Ethan, and daughter Sloane, Brent is proud to continue to call Godfrey - and Hinchinbrooke - home.
