Services for Wilkinson & the 'West of 38'

Even though elections are a competition, we're all neighbours and friends. That means that you shouldn't be afraid to agree with another candidate if it's the right thing to do.

So I want to do just that.


On Tuesday, Phil Smith is bringing forward a Notice of Motion to ask Township staff to explore options to reopen the former Wilkinson landfill site as a waste transfer station (like the ones at Elbow Lake and Wemp Road).


It's a good idea and long overdue.


The people in our district who live out along Echo Lake Road, past the Depot Lakes and down through Mary Moore Road do not enjoy the same access to this service as many of us take for granted. In the time it takes for many in that area to get to one of the existing sites, they can already be in downtown Kingston.


They pay taxes to support these services just like everyone else. Fairness dictates that we do something to make this service more accessible and convenient for them.


I agree with Phil and credit him for bringing this forward. We need to find a way to make this happen for our neighbours in that part of the District
