Dear neighbours
As Christmas approaches, and we near the end of 2019, I wanted to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Council winds down over the holidays, so it’s a good time to reflect on the year that’s been – at least in part.
Plans have moved ahead on the senior’s housing project, which will be located at the site of the former Sharbot Lake Public School. Also, the long-awaited repair and rehabilitation of Elizabeth Street will be in 2020.
Those traveling Crow Lake Road will notice the improvements, and we are still working to get areas like Echo Lake, Second Lake and Oak Flats in better shape.
Piccadilly Hall has now seen the completion of the renovations to its interior, giving it a new lease on life for many years to come.
The District 4 Recreation Committee has continued to work hard and has a great deal of success to show for the efforts of its members. The Frontenac Community Arena has made great strides in updating and modernizing equipment and service to our patrons – and the popularity of the facility is evidenced by the steady bookings for ice time. The Township’s Economic Development Committee benefits from talented and dedicated members who are working toward a plan that will recommend ways we can improve business and job opportunities here in Central Frontenac. I am proud to be a part of these groups and am grateful for the talent and passion that all involved put into making our community the great place it is.
2020 will likely prove to be an equally busy year, and the focus will continue to be improvements on roads and the services we deliver to you – as well as affordability.
As always, it is a privilege to represent you at the Council table. I do not see my vote on any issue as my own, but a proxy on behalf of all of you. I do my best to make sure I ask the questions I think you would ask and vote the way you would if you had the chance. In the coming year, I will continue to try to reflect that perspective.
And so, I wish you happiness and good health this Christmas, and into the year that follows.
Be good to yourselves and to one another.
All the best,
Brent
